Just so you all know moving forward, we don’t want you to go hungry because you’re not in the know.
Here at University Dining we decided to end the policy of taking student ID cards! We realized that it hurt more than helped and we want to make sure that we are giving you all the best dining experience possible.
We tried to take the ID cards to help manage the container system with the dispersal of them and accounting for them but realized it was a mistake. We’ll take this L.
For those of you who left your ID card at the Marketplace and had to go back for it the next day this is for you. No need to worry about it anymore though, a new day is here.
Thank you for your help!
Funny story for some of you that don’t know, Dining Dan and I actually went to the same high school. I was a grade younger than him, his younger brother and I were friends and teammates on our school’s lacrosse team (Go Bulldogs!) I didn’t know him then but because of his brother I knew of him. He wasn’t always so “Corporate” Dan had long black Justin Bieber hair, tight jeans, and the famous shelled necklace. Everyone loved Dan because he was such an outgoing people person and someone you wanted to be around because he was just..cool. He did the talent show and I’m pretty sure he was in a band but that’s for another story. Eventually he graduated and I really didn’t expect to see again until I came into my first day of work. I was sitting filling out paperwork and I heard a voice, I thought “That sounds like Dan Simpson but can’t be” He kept talking about this bad Bahbie concert in New Haven that he was jokingly trying to get the people in the office to go to. I leaned over to my Operations manager and asked, “Is that Dan Simpson?” I was surprised when she said yes.
Daniel “Dining Dan” Simpson has been your Student Ambassador for 3 years now and today he takes his last walk across campus. He’s held food committee meetings, sat on chairs, and gave his ear to any student with something to say. It’s a sad day but just like the story above goes, you never know when you’ll run into a familiar face. Let him know you appreciate him as you see him around campus today!
We have some charger themed cupcakes at marketplace today in honor of Dan, lets help him charge out the right way!
We are happy to announce our new gluten and egg free pasta options at the “Simple Servings” station in Marketplace!
We will be offering these delicious options daily at lunch and dinner so get excited!
Due to snow, sleet, and freezing rain forecast to spread over our area and the anticipated difficult driving conditions later today, the University of New Haven has canceled all classes starting at 3:00 PM and later today, Wednesday February 20, 2019 at the West Haven and Orange campuses.
Due to the weather, we at University Dining are going to be closing the following outlets at 2:30 p.m:
- WOW Cafe
- Charger Cafe
- Orange Cafe
Food on Demand, Marketplace and Re-Charge Convenience Market will be open for normal business hours.
Let’s just get the tough part out of the way, shall we?
For those that don’t know, I (Dining Dan) am leaving the University of New Haven and University Dining this Thursday, February 21st. I am excited at the prospect of a new opportunity, but I am so sad to be leaving this great place! You all have made me feel like a real part of campus, and I will forever be a Charger!
So it is with that bittersweet excitement that I hand over the reins of Student Ambassador to a fellow Bunnell High School alum (go Bulldogs) Jovan Bloise!
…….Thank you Dan for that awesome intro! I’m indeed excited for this new opportunity to get to know the students a lot better than I already do. I’ve gotten to know so many students as a Supervisor at Marketplace and being Student Ambassador will only highlight that. I look forward to seeing you all around campus, don’t be afraid to say hi!
